Inspired by the original vision and hard work of community building spearheaded by Fr. James Tort, CMF, who established the National Shrine of St. Jude within the parish in 1929, our parish is a center of devotion and transformation, bringing the Mexican immigrant community together while joining hands with other ethnic communities and civic and religious leaders in Chicago. We are the birthplace of a nationally recognized parish-based ministry with immigrants, Pastoral Migratoria, and in shared mission with Claretian Associates, an affiliated community development organization, we build affordable housing and transform dilapidated areas of our neighborhood into vibrant living spaces._____ Stephen Niskanen, CMF (Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, South Chicago, USA).
