“God’s Word isn’t in jail” (2 Tim 2:9) … but we could be! I strongly feel that we need to let the Word of God, the Spirit of God, move and challenge our hearts to proclaim it well. We need to be ‘deeply rooted’ in the Word of God: to reflect, pray and study it to discover the mysterious and always fascinating face of God as manifested in Jesus of Nazareth.
We may look at the beauty of the ocean from the surface, not from its depth – and proclaim a superficial ‘Gospel’. The Bible we learnt during our studies in theology is not enough. At that time professors were giving answers to students who mainly had no questions. After some years in ministry, we need to go deeper to be able to have the biblical animation of all our pastoral activities – audaciously! Our people ‘know’ when we live and preach the authentic message of God. _____ Alberto Rossa, CMF (Hong Kong, East Asia Delegation)
